The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship as a key strategy for ecosystem preservation and restoration, urging everyone—regardless of their position—to contribute actively.
Technical Assistant to the RIWAMA Sole Administrator, Dr. Emmanuel Olowu stated this at a Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Integrated Strategies for Ecosystem Restoration in Port Harcourt.
Under the auspices of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Olowu, who represented the acting Sole Administrator of the agency, Hon Prince Obi Ohia, highlighted that the Ohia-led administration has successfully attracted $300 million in direct foreign investment for waste-to-energy projects in the state.
He also called on stakeholders to support the good governance initiatives of Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalaye Fubara by participating in the “Keep Port Harcourt Clean” program led by Hon. Prince Ohia, which is already showing positive results.
Dr. Olowu further expressed gratitude to the NDDC for its leadership in promoting ecosystem restoration in the Niger Delta and requested their continued support for RIWAMA in managing waste throughout the state.
