DESOPADEC Completes NYSC Corpers’ Lodge at Akarai Obodo, Pledges More Projects for Ndokwa East

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has completed and delivered a new NYSC Corpers’ Lodge at Akarai Obodo in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, in a move aimed at improving the welfare of Corps members serving in oil-producing communities.
The project was inspected by Dr. Charles Olisa, KSM, JP, Commissioner representing the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Governing Board of DESOPADEC.
Speaking after the inspection, Dr. Olisa commended the contractor for executing the job according to DESOPADEC’s specifications and for delivering quality work within the agreed timeframe.
“This NYSC Corpers’ Lodge at Akarai Obodo is a direct product of engagement with the community people and critical stakeholders,” Dr. Olisa said. “It reflects the Board’s vision of listening to the people and delivering infrastructure that addresses their real needs.”
He reaffirmed the commitment of the current Board, led by Chairman Olorogun Barr. John Nani and MD/CEO Chief Surveyor Festus Ochonogor, to populate DESOPADEC mandate areas with meaningful projects that have direct impact on the lives of residents.
Dr. Olisa noted that the project aligns with the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Delta State Government under Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, which prioritizes infrastructural development and human capital growth across the state.
The Commissioner also disclosed that several other projects in Ndokwa East LGA are at advanced stages of completion. They include the Assembly Hall at Oduga Secondary School, Ushie; the fencing of Aboh Grammar School, Aboh; and an Ultra-Modern Civic Center at Agwetiti.
He assured residents of Ndokwa East and other communities within the DESOPADEC mandate areas that more projects aimed at improving living standards and creating enabling environments for development would soon be delivered.
With the completion of the lodge, Corps members posted to Akarai Obodo and surrounding communities are expected to enjoy better accommodation, a development stakeholders say will boost service delivery and encourage youth participation in rural areas.
