SOUTH SOUTH COMMUNITY HAILS PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER SWIFT INTERVENTION ON ASABA-BENIN ROAD.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Abuja, FCT, August 28, 2026
The South South Community has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his swift directive to the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently intervene in the deteriorating condition of the Benin-Agbor-Asaba Road.
In a statement signed by the President of the South South Community, Amb. Dickson Omoregie, the group described the President’s intervention as “long overdue and people-centered,” noting that the gridlock on the strategic highway had caused unimaginable hardship for commuters, traders, and residents of Delta, Edo, and adjoining states.
“We appreciate Mr. President for responding to the cries of our people. For days, motorists were stranded, goods could not move, and economic activities were grounded along that corridor,” Amb. Omoregie stated.
The Community however called on the Federal Government to extend the same decisive action to all abandoned and ongoing federal projects across the South South region.
“We urge Mr. President and the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, to conduct a comprehensive audit of all federal road and infrastructure projects in the South South. Too many critical projects have been abandoned for years while our people continue to suffer,” the statement added.
The South South Community commended the President and pledged to partner with government agencies to ensure transparency, quality, and timely delivery of projects in the region.
Signed,
Amb. Dickson Omoregie
President, South South Community
