A dramatic turn of events unfolded at the ongoing Edo governorship tribunal as Asue Ighodalo’s camp struggled to maintain credibility. During a cross-examination, PDP witness PW18, Osualejah Righteousness, appeared to be tutored on his responses. However, when faced with probing questions from Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, counsel to the APC, the witness became flustered.
In a surprising moment, the witness pleaded, “Sir, the grammar is too much for me, kindly break it down.” Tribunal Chairman, Justice Wilfred Kpochi, intervened, directing Chief Ferdinand Orbih to communicate with the witness in pidgin English. This unusual request highlighted the witness’s apparent lack of understanding of the proceedings.
Furthermore, the PDP’s allegations of over-voting in Ward 8, Unit 4 of Akoko-Edo were debunked. Onyechi Ikpeazu presented the original unit result sheet, revealing 274 accredited voters and 274 valid votes. The counsel’s pointed question, “Where is the over-voting?” exposed the PDP’s unfounded claims.
This development underscores the lack of substance in Asue Ighodalo and the PDP’s petition. The tribunal’s time and resources are being squandered on frivolous allegations. It is evident that the PDP’s case relies on baseless assertions rather than concrete evidence.
The PDP’s strategy of relying on coached witnesses and unsubstantiated claims is crumbling under scrutiny. The tribunal’s rigorous examination of the evidence has revealed the flaws in the PDP’s case. As the proceedings continue, it is becoming increasingly clear that the PDP’s petition lacks merit.
The APC, on the other hand, has presented a robust defense, backed by credible evidence and witnesses. The party’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process is evident in its thorough preparation and presentation of its case.
As the tribunal inches closer to a verdict, it is essential to remember that the integrity of the electoral process is paramount. The APC’s dedication to ensuring that the will of the people is respected is commendable. In contrast, the PDP’s attempts to discredit the election results are being thoroughly debunked.
In conclusion, the ongoing tribunal proceedings have exposed the weaknesses in the PDP’s case. As the truth continues to unravel, it is becoming increasingly clear that the APC’s victory in the Edo governorship election was legitimate and well-deserved.
