The President of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, has lauded the far reaching solutions the Tertiary Institutions and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund have offered to the educational sector of the country so far, the Senate President made his remarks during the opening ceremony of the one day public hearing organised by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND today, 21st November 2024 at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

The uncommon President of the 10th Senate represented at the event by the Senate Committee Chairman on Rules and Business, Dr. Titus Tartenger Zam, said the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic Onueke and the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri was not all about the glamour of creating new institutions but for the purpose of nurturing the minds and talents of Nigerian citizens.

While expressing pround gratitude to the Chairman of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Sen.Dandutse Muntari Mohammed and the committee for their unwavering commitment to duty, the Senate President charged stakeholders to ensure that educational frameworks were robust, inclusive and of the highest quality in Nigeria.

The lawmaker in urging for a peaceful deliberations also advocated quality education as a right that every Nigerian deserves, emphasizing its catalytic nature in the economic growth, social cohesion and national development and encouraged critical decision makers to share insights, challenge assumptions with deliberate collaborations on strategies that will safeguard the future of institutions in the country.
