NDC Inaugurates National Reconciliation Committee Ahead of 2027 Elections

ABUJA — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated a National Reconciliation Committee to resolve disputes arising from its recently concluded party primaries and to strengthen internal unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony was held on at the party’s National Headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, NDC National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, said the committee was set up to promote peace and cohesion among party members nationwide. He noted that unity within the party is critical to electoral victory in 2027.

“A united party is an essential requirement for electoral success,” Zuwoghe said. “I urge members of this committee to carry out their assignment with integrity, fairness, transparency, and diligence.”

Committee Leadership
Prof. Pat Utomi will serve as Chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee, with Engr. Buba Galadima as Co-Chairman. Other national officers include Barr. Mohammed Sani Takori, MNI, as Vice Chairman, and Comrade Babatunde Ali as Secretary. Members are Mrs. Dudu Mamman Manuga, Hon. Salvador Adegoke Moshood, and Alhaji Haruna Pai.

To ensure grassroots reach, the party also constituted three zonal sub-committees:

Northern Sub-Committee
Chairman: Mainasara Sani Abubakar
Secretary: Barr. Fatima Musa Abba
Members: Comrade Solomon Ndah, Dr. Tanko Yusufu, Arc. Dr. Toma Audu Gana

South East Sub-Committee
Chairman: Senator Victor Umeh
Secretary: Sir Patrick Akwara
Members: Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, Dr. Patrick Eziechukwudi, Chief (Barr.) Isaac Chinaka Anumudu, Stefiny Amaka Eugene

South South Sub-Committee
Chairman: Senator Ben Birabi
Secretary: Senator Clever M. Ikisikpo
Members: Bishop Isaac Idahosa, Esther Archibong, Apostle David Stephen Okon

Committee Pledges Harmony
In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Utomi expressed gratitude to the party leadership and assured that the committee would work to “promote harmony, strengthen internal unity, and advance the collective vision of the party.”

Engr. Galadima also applauded the leadership for the initiative and pledged his commitment to ensuring “genuine reconciliation among members at all levels of the party.”

Speaking on behalf of the South-South Sub-Committee, Bishop Isaac Idahosa called for practical steps to resolve post-primary disagreements. He urged party members, leaders, and stakeholders to set aside personal interests and embrace unity to secure victory for the NDC in the forthcoming elections.

The NDC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, fairness, inclusiveness, and party cohesion as it prepares to present credible candidates and what it described as “a strong alternative platform to Nigerians” in 2027.
