The family of the Executive Chairman of the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), Hon. Chief Chidiebere Santos Egboh (Ozone), has announced the funeral arrangements for their late father, the legendary educationist Ichie Santos Agha Egboh. The late patriarch, a renowned and visionary leader, passed away at the age of 95.
Ichie Agha Egboh was a towering figure in the educational community, best known as the founder of Young Stars Primary and Secondary Schools in Umuopia-Akokwa. His contributions to human capital development earned him the prestigious title of “Ugo-Mmuta” (the Pride of Learning), a recognition of his soaring impact on the intellectual growth of thousands of students across the Ideato nation, Imo State, and beyond.
According to a statement by the family, the burial rites will commence on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with a Service of Songs at his compound in Umuanudu Emehama, Umuopia-Akokwa, at 5:00 PM.
The funeral highlights will follow on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 with a Requiem Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Umuopia-Akokwa, beginning at 9:00 AM. Following the mass and interment, guests will be hosted for entertainment and condolences at the family compound starting at 11:00 AM.
The transition ceremonies will continue on Thursday, January 8, with condolence visits from in-laws, friends, political associates, and alumni of the National Institute of Commerce and Young Stars Schools. The celebration of life will conclude on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Umuopia-Akokwa.
Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Hon. Chief Chidiebere Santos Egboh noted that the late patriarch was a bridge between Western educational excellence and traditional Igbo moral values. Throughout his 95 years, Ichie Egboh remained a staunch advocate for moral discipline and the “Golden Rule,” ensuring that his students graduated not only with certificates but also with a firm moral compass and cultural pride.
As the IMSUBEB Chairman prepares to lay his father to rest, Ideato nation remembers a man who achieved immortality through service.
