A top contender to Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives under the All Progressives Party (APC), High Chief Johnson Ossai Opone, has expressed confidence in clinching the seat, even as he conceded that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate and current Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Obarisi Augustine Ovie Omo-Agege, was a strong power broker in the state.
The House of Reps candidate who made his convictions to win next year’s general elections known in a statement made available to newsmen in Kwale, noted that not withstanding his party been opposition in the state, his popularity, mostly among the youths, men and women from the various units and wards in the constituency would guarantee his victory during the poll.
He said he did not just wake up and decided to go into the race but he was mandated by the majority of the electorates to vie for the seat based on the believe and confidence they repose in him to carry them along and deliver true dividends of democracy to the people of Ndokwa who have being yearning for quality leadership and effective representation.
While acknowledging the political prowess and gigantic developmental projects Omo-Agege has attracted to his senatorial district and by extension the state, High Chief Opone, said its only ungrateful and biased mind that would fail to acknowledge the monumental accomplishments the APC Governorship candidate in the state has brought to Urhoboland and other areas by reason of the office he currently occupies.
According to him, “I must state it categorically that Distinguished Senator Omo-Agege, has made an indelible mark in ensuring that the upliftment of the standard of living of the people remains a topmost priority in his career as a political office holder and these rare feats he has consistently achieved at every position he occupied both at the national and sub-national levels”.
“Senator Omo-Agege, over the years has distinguished himself as one of the most successful and brilliant politician who commands a lot of respect among its colleagues where he served. His dispositions to ensuring that the well-being of the people he was elected to serve was improved upon is second to none and that’s why he would continue to earn the respect and trust of the people”, he stated
Continuing, “I’m also a grassroot politician and I’ve equally paid my dues when it comes to playing local politics and over the years, I’ve built a solid base politically to win any election. This is what I’ll be banking upon at this critical moment that am contesting the House of Reps elections to enable me emerge victorious and contribute my quota to the overall development and advancement of my constituents”.
“I’m very optimistic that with the level of supports from the electorates and my total devotion to the growth and development of our people and our land over the years, I have no doubt that my victory is certain. I equally want to appeal to my supporters to remain focused and be vigilant to any activities intended to compromise the elections in their localities”, he concluded.
