UZODIMMA’S PARTNERSHIP WITH NDDC EXCITES IMOLITES
Imolites have expressed delight at the renewed partnership between the Imo State government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which promises to enhance the development of physical infrastructure and other social and educational amenities in the State.
This is as the governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON hosted the board and management of the oil region development commission in Government House, Owerri.
While thanking his august visitors, the governor encouraged them to continue to site more developmental projects in the State in line with its core mission which is to; “facilitate the rapid and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful.”
Reacting to reports of the commissioning of the 7.6 kilometres Eziama/Abba/Owerri Nkworji road which cuts across three LGAs of the State, a community leader and retired school principal Mr. Raphael Igwebuike lauded the governor’s efforts in attracting development agencies to the State.
According to him; “This is an encouraging signal that the governor is deeply committed to the infrastructural revitalisation and improved development of Imo State. It is obvious that Imo State does not have unlimited resources to be able to meet up with our developmental targets, but with partnerships with agencies like the NDDC, one can be confident that a lot more can be done. I encourage the governor to keep up with this partnership and also ensure that contractors handling construction jobs in the State do not compromise on quality and timeline of delivery.”
Also, Chief Onwuka Nathaniel, a community leader from Nwangele pointed out that the construction of the Eziama/Abba/Owerri Nkworji road has positively impacted on the economy, security and social stability of the areas affected and lauded the partnership between the Imo State government and the Commission.
“This road is strategic for the economic and social development of this area. Before now, movement was very difficult for our people, but with the construction of this road, we have a new lease of life and the people are happier. We do hope that the governor would consolidate this partnership to attract more dividends of democracy to the people.”
