SGF AKUME ADDRESSES COURSE 34 PARTICIPANTS AT THE NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE (NDC), EMPHASISES EFFECTIVE POLICY IMPLEMENTATION
By Amb. Musa Muhammad Tsoken The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to strengthen policy execution as a key driver of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” Agenda.
He stressed that the current administration is focused on ensuring that government policies translate into real and measurable benefits for citizens, rather than remaining theoretical or trapped within bureaucratic processes.Speaking during a lecture delivered on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the National Defence College (NDC), Nigeria, Senator Akume addressed participants of Course 34 of the Policy Formulation, Analysis and Implementation Capstone Course.
He highlighted the need for effective coordination across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), noting that weak implementation frameworks and institutional bottlenecks have historically limited the impact of well-designed policies.
The SGF further explained that under President Tinubu’s leadership, the emphasis has shifted toward results-driven governance, accountability and service delivery. According to him, dismantling systemic barriers and promoting inter-agency collaboration are critical to achieving national development goals, adding that the “Renewed Hope” Agenda is anchored on turning policies into tangible outcomes that directly improve the lives of Nigerians.
