This hard truth was delivered Thursday by RT. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Speaker Cross River state House of Assembly at the Transcorp Hilton Hotels Abuja, venue of conference organized by Forum Of Houses of Assembly Speakers in Nigeria. The humane lawmaker charged colleagues to as a matter of urgency promote people oriented legislations in their day-to-day parliamentarian activities using Cross River state as model.
The epoch making conference with the theme: ‘Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL), was used by RT. Hon. Ayambem to sue for building strong relationships through meaningful engagements that will ensure citizens becomes increasingly more effective and influential in governance. Impact the way legislators organize their legislative business as well as how state government implement, track and account for policies, plans and budgets purposed for delivering goods and services and how citizens themselves engages these processes.
Concerning Cross River, he expressed enthusiasm, readiness and legislative curiosity toward a stable Assembly, assuring that the 10th Assembly, under his leadership, will set a pace by God’s grace be the best in the history of Cross River state.
“I also believe that the event will help me promote the interest of my people through developmental programmes.” He said
Recall that since assumption into office on 13 June, 2023, the RT. Hon. Elvert Ayambem leadership has not rested in mitigating plights of the masses with people-centric motions and bills. The Assembly initiated legislations on securing Calabar South and state in general from marauders, addressing technical issues on the Contributory pension scheme, relocation of Lemna dumpsite which is currently a menace as well as increased revenue generation through legalization of timber related activities.
