The Director General of NILDS,Prof. Abubakar O Sulaiman has been honored with the impact and innovation award by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), the UK public body dedicated to strengthening democracy around the world.

This prestigious recognition, in a letter signed by the WFD Regional Director, Africa, Michael Nevin, acknowledges his exceptional development-driven initiatives at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS.

It is truly an honor to receive such commendation and be acknowledged for the remarkable efforts and dedication demonstrated by the DG, management, and staff of the Institute.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the WFD for bestowing this honor upon us. Their acknowledgement reaffirms our belief in the importance of supporting democratic processes and institutions in Nigeria and worldwide, while concurrently strengthening democracy, promoting good governance, and facilitating democratic reforms.

“I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has been part of this journey – the leadership of the National Assembly, NILDS’ management, and staff. Your support and collective effort have played a vital role in our success,” Prof. Sulaiman stated.

Prof. Sulaiman embarked on this journey with a clear vision of creating meaningful change in our country, and it is truly incredible to witness these efforts being recognized on a global scale. The recognition from the esteemed WFD, our partner for the past three years, serves as a testament to the power of passionate individuals uniting to drive sustainable development.

“This commendation from the WFD ignites my determination to continue pushing boundaries and making a lasting impact. I am more motivated than ever to collaborate, innovate, and advance legislative and democratic institutions in Nigeria and the ECOWAS subregion,” he further emphasized.

To all those who believe in the power of development and making a difference, let us continue driving change together! Together, we can build a better future for everyone.
