His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his unwavering commitment to revamping the education sector. In his words, “I proudly watch Monday Okpebholo almost walking barefoot around the schools,” highlighting the governor’s hands-on leadership and dedication to ensuring quality education for Edo’s children.

Governor Okpebholo’s approach to education stands in stark contrast to the failed EdoBEST initiative under the previous administration of Godwin Obaseki. The so-called education reform was nothing but a fraudulent scheme designed to siphon public funds while schools across the state remained in deplorable conditions. Despite claims of investing billions of naira, classrooms were left in ruins, teachers were poorly trained, and students lacked basic learning materials. EdoBEST was a scam that failed to deliver real progress.

Since assuming office, Governor Okpebholo has taken decisive steps to address these failures. Recognizing the urgent need for change, he declared a State of Emergency in the education sector and launched immediate interventions. His administration has prioritized renovating dilapidated school buildings, equipping classrooms with necessary learning tools, and ensuring that teachers receive proper training to improve the quality of education in Edo State.

President Tinubu’s endorsement is a testament to Governor Okpebholo’s impactful leadership. Unlike his predecessor, who focused on media propaganda, Okpebholo has embraced a grassroots approach, personally inspecting schools and engaging with students and educators to understand their needs. His administration is committed to implementing genuine reforms that will benefit Edo’s education sector for years to come.

Under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, Edo State is witnessing a true transformation in education—one that prioritizes the future of the youth over political deception. The era of fraudulent governance is over; real development has begun.
