Okpebholo, Ikpea, Onobun, others greet Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe on birthday……”He Is a pillar of stability, patriotism,” says Edo Governor.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has described retired Major General Cecil Osolease Esekhaigbe as a distinguished patriot, accomplished military officer and respected party leader whose life of service continues to inspire Edo State and Nigeria.

In a birthday message released on Monday, the governor, on behalf of the Edo State Government and its people, congratulated the former army general, praising his discipline, leadership and unwavering commitment to peace, unity and development.

Governor Okpebholo said General Esekhaigbe’s remarkable military career and seamless transition into political and public service have positioned him as a pillar of stability and wisdom in Edo State and beyond.

According to the governor, the retired general’s contributions to governance, security and political development have played a significant role in strengthening democratic institutions, particularly through his mentorship of younger leaders and his efforts at fostering unity within the political space.
“From your remarkable military career to your continued contributions to governance, security and political development, you remain a pillar of stability and wisdom,” the governor stated.

He further commended General Esekhaigbe’s dedication to peace-building and leadership development, noting that his influence continues to resonate across generations of leaders within and outside Edo State.

The message was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele.

Similarly, Senator Joseph Ikpea, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District, congratulated General Esekhaigbe on his birthday, describing him as an exceptional leader, mentor and statesman.

He said the retired army officer remains a stabilising force in Edo Central whose leadership has strengthened unity, peace and progress in the region.

Senator Ikpea also spoke on General Esekhaigbe’s military excellence, political experience and people-centred leadership, noting his key role in mentoring leaders and consolidating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo Central.

Also paying tribute, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, Member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency, described General Esekhaigbe as a father figure and stabilising force within the APC.

Onobu praised the retired general’s leadership, commitment to party unity and enduring influence in Edo Central, while wishing him continued good health and many more years of service to Edo State, the party and Nigeria.
