Enabulele Rewards Excellence as Edo Sports Commission Honours January Best Staff Under Gov. Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda

In line with efforts to boost productivity and reward excellence in the Edo State Public Service under Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, the management of the Edo State Sports Commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has honoured the Commission’s Best Staff for the month of January.

The award ceremony, which took place at the Commission’s Media Centre, was attended by top management staff, directors, and coaches.

In her opening remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. A. P. Amenze, explained that the initiative was introduced by the Office of the Head of Service to recognise hardworking, dedicated, and result-oriented workers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the state.

According to her, the award is aimed at motivating staff to improve performance while encouraging others to raise the standard of their service delivery. She commended the Executive Chairman for his strong support of the initiative, noting that Hon. Enabulele firmly believes in hard work, excellence, and merit-based rewards.

“The award is intended to motivate employees to perform better and to encourage others to improve their service. It is an opportunity for staff to work harder and achieve even better results in the future,” she added.

The January Best Staff Award was presented to Mr. Williams Omoroghomwan, Head Coach, Weightlifting, alongside a cash prize. A brief citation highlighting his achievements was read in his honour.

Mr. Omoroghomwan is a highly accomplished coach with several professional qualifications, including a Basic Coaching Certificate, a Certificate of Education, and an International Weightlifting Coaching Certification. He joined the Edo State Sports Council in February 2011 and has steadily risen through the ranks to his current position as Assistant Chief Coach, Weightlifting.

He has recorded remarkable achievements, winning numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals for Edo State at national and international competitions, including the 22nd National Sports Festival, 9th Niger Delta Sports Festival, and the African Weightlifting Championship. His athletes have also represented Nigeria with distinction at the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games.

While presenting the award, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele praised Mr. Omoroghomwan’s dedication, professionalism, and result-oriented approach to coaching, describing the honour as a well-deserved recognition of years of hard work and commitment.

The Executive Chairman noted that the award came as no surprise, given the coach’s consistent contributions to the growth and success of sports in Edo State.

In his response, Mr. Omoroghomwan expressed surprise and deep appreciation for the recognition, thanking the Commission’s management for the honour and reaffirming his commitment to continue giving his best.

The event ended on a note of renewed motivation, as staff were encouraged to remain dedicated, hardworking, and committed to excellence in service.
