Nasarawa Health Commissioner, State Officials Attend Launch of ANRiN 2.0 in Abuja

The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Nasarawa State, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, on Friday, joined other dignitaries in Abuja for the official launch of the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) 2.0 programme.
He was joined by the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi, and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Umar Tanko Tunga.
Organised by the Federal Government in collaboration with the World Bank, the launch was aimed at equipping state leaders with the tools and knowledge necessary to implement ANRiN 2.0, an ambitious initiative focused on improving nutrition outcomes and enhancing human capital development across Nigeria.
In her welcome address, the National Project Manager, Dr. Ojuolape Solanke, emphasized the need for strong state-level commitment to achieve the programme’s ambitious targets.
An overview of the initiative was presented by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, detailing ANRiN 2.0’s objectives, key performance indicators, and the specific responsibilities of participating states.
World Bank Task Team Lead, Ritgak Tilley-Gyado, delivered a keynote address highlighting the transformative power of nutrition in fostering economic productivity, educational attainment, and long-term national development.
Dr. Gwamna was also joined by Dr. Iskilu-Saleh, Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA), reinforcing the state’s dedication to expanding access to quality, cost-effective nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, and children under five.
Building on the successes of its first phase, ANRiN 2.0 renews focus on scaling up high-impact nutrition interventions that are both accessible and affordable.
Nasarawa State’s active participation at the launch signals its unwavering commitment to investing in nutrition as a cornerstone of human capital development and sustainable growth.
