Nasarawa state Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule said he is determined to support the cultivation of every piece of arable land in the state in pursuit of his administration’s vision for agriculture and wealth creation.
He laments that the state has vast land that is rich and suitable for agriculture but is grossly underutilized.
Governor Sule shared his vision with Mr. Chen Qiang while on an over 5 hours fast train ride from China’s densely populated Henan province to the mineral rich Nanchang, in Jiangxi province.
With the train traveling at a speed of 304 kilometres per hour Governor Sule could not but noticed the well cultivated farm lands in the region. He told the Chinese delegation that he plans to implement the cluster farming method leveraging on crops that are best suited for particular areas of the state to create what he calls “core agriculture zones”
Engr. Sule said he looks forward to a partnership that will see every available land cultivated as is visible in the agriculture rich area spanning Henan province.
He adds that the recent distribution of tractors and seedlings to all the Local Government Areas in the state is a practical demonstration of his administration’s commitment to the cause of agriculture.
Mr. Chen Qiang while responding said his team is ready to key into the vision of Engr. Sule of facilitating large scale mechanised farming in Nasarawa state.
Mr. Qiang admitted that the land in Nasarawa is richer than some in China hence their desire to cultivate in the state while seeking the collaboration of the state.
