The Prosperity Government has constructed and completed several new school buildings in various parts of the state, including Akenfa, Biogbolo, and Igbogene. There is also a brand new school along the AIT road in Opolo. This is just to name a few. In addition to the significant improvements in schools across the state, the government has made a historic effort to update teachers with contemporary skills in Information Technology (ICT). For the first time, the government engaged the service of Microsoft to train 12,000 teachers in ICT. This is essential in equipping them for the important task of building and driving a knowledge-based economy that is in line with global practices.

The good news is that teachers in Bayelsa are now being described as digital teachers. Furthermore, as part of its policy imperative, the state government has introduced much-needed technical education with an emphasis on practical skills acquisition to promote self-reliance and an entrepreneurship-driven economy. To support this lofty objective, the Diri government has built technical colleges in each of the eight Local Government Areas of the state. This not only marks a paradigm shift from the past but also proves that education is the most effective instrument for bringing about meaningful development.
The benefits of this bold initiative will not only change the development narrative of the state in terms of human capital, but also transform the time bomb of unemployed youth from job seekers to significant players in job and wealth creation. This is undoubtedly in line with the administration’s desire to establish a regime of prosperity and sustainable development for the good and well-being of the people.
