Bayelsa APC Ward, LGA Congresses: Diri Harps On “Give And Take” Approach

~Stakeholders resolves for consensus lists

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, at a Stakeholders meeting held at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa, has harped for a consensus harmonization ahead of the forthcoming Wards and Local Government Area Congresses of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

Governor Diri, who is the Leader of the party in the State, maintained that it’s only a consensus building that will further bond and give way for a stronger APC in Bayelsa State.

He urged all Stakeholders to fall back to their respective Wards and come up with consensus lists of those to serve at the Wards and Local Government Area Executive offices of the party.

The Bayelsa State number one citizen, reiterated his all inclusive leadership of the Party, assuring that with a united APC, the party has all it takes to win elections come 2027.

” I had always believed in consensus building and that I have done to an extent with the results of unity and love that you see today.
“I believe that politics should be a give and take where at a point you make sacrifices for others and so, this is a litmus test for us to come up with harmonized lists without rancour .

” I will only intervene on areas that may find it difficult to harmonize their lists,but I know we are all ready to building a more united and stronger APC in Bayelsa”, the governor said.

Senator Diri, further brought to the notice of Stakeholders apology letters from the Petroleum Minister (oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri PhD, and the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, who were unavoidably absent due to tight office engagements.

Speaking earlier, Chief Dr. Dennis Otiotio, State Chairman of the party, welcomed all Stakeholders to the meeting despite the short notice.
He highlighted the need for party leaders to work with the Governor to achieve success in the upcoming Ward and LGA Congresses inline with the APC constitution.

At the end of deliberations, party resolved for consensus Congresses billed to hold between the 18th and 21st of February 2026. The Governor, used the medium to inaugurate Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassorrs for the eight Local Government Areas, which signals the readiness of the ambassadors to sensitize people at the grassroots on the 2027 Presidential election with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu likely to be the party’s sole candidate.

Some Stakeholders at the meeting included, Senator Friday Konbowei Benson, representing Bayelsa Central, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei, Hon. Oboku Oforji of the House of Representatives, Secretary to State Govt Prof Nimibofa Ayawei, Chief of Staff Govt House Dr. Pereotubo Peter Akpe, Special Adviser on Political Matters Chief Collins Cocodia,Local Government Chairmen of Southern Ijaw, Yenagoa, Brass, Nembe, Kolokuma-Opokuma, and other top Appointees of the Prosperity Government.

Others were; Rtd Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, former Deputy Governor, Chief David Lyon, Chief Great Joshua Maciver, Hon. Preye Oseke, HRH Israel Suni Goli, Hon Micheal Bless Olomu, Engr. Preye Aganaba, Chief Tiwei Timipa Orunimighe, Hon. Fini Angaye, State working Committee members of the APC ,l Local Government Chairmen of the party and as well other critical decision makers.
