A leading Civil Society Organization in Edo State, Justice Advocacy Forum, has again raised a fresh alarm over plans by elements and thugs who are allegedly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to disrupt Monday’s proceedings at the Tribunal in Benin City, Edo State capital.

Josiah Onosetale, Coordinator and
Helen Iredia, General Secretary, respectively, in a press statement expressed worries that frequent attacks may derail the smooth administration of justice.

The statement read: “We are deeply concerned about reports of plans by unidentified individuals or groups to disrupt Monday’s proceedings at the Tribunal currently holding in BeninCity.

“We strongly condemn any attempt to obstruct or interfere with the administration of justice. Such actions not only undermine the rule of law but also pose a serious threat to public safety and order.

“We urge law enforcement agencies to take all necessary measures to prevent any attempts to disrupt today’s proceedings. This includes enhanced security measures at the courthouse, proactive intelligence gathering, and swift action against PDP agents and thugs found to be involved in such activities.

“The Judiciary must maintain its independence and uphold the integrity of the judicial process. We call upon the judiciary to ensure that the proceedings are conducted in a safe and secure environment, free from any form of intimidation or interference by agents of the PDP.

“The public, we urge you to remain calm and law-abiding. We urge all citizens to respect the rule of law and allow the judicial process to proceed without any hindrance.

“We believe that a fair and just outcome can only be achieved through a peaceful and orderly legal process. We call upon all stakeholders to work together to ensure the safety and security of all involved in the judicial process.”
