President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Miss Usoro Akpabio as the new Managing Director of the South South Development Commission (SSDC).

It is evident that Senator Godswill Akpabio has masterfully leveraged his influence, not only relocating the SSDC headquarters to Akwa Ibom but now securing a key leadership position for his close relative. Akpabio’s actions, while controversial, undeniably bring development and opportunities to his people.
In stark contrast, Rivers State continues to suffer from internal strife and political manipulation. Former Governor Nyesom Wike, rather than using his influence to foster progress, has fixated on undermining Rivers State’s economy and destabilizing its governance. His relentless attacks on our beloved Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and his schemes to control Rivers State’s resources have plunged the state into unnecessary political turmoil.
The imposition of a state of emergency, the suspension of a democratically elected governor, and the appointment of Obongho Wo Ibas as sole administrator are not only anti-democratic but a blatant assault on the will of the Rivers people. It is disheartening that while Akpabio advances the fortunes of Akwa Ibom, Rivers State remains trapped in Wike’s cycle of greed, control, and political vendetta, leaving the ordinary citizens to bear the brunt.
We, the people of Rivers State, stand firm in our demand: restore peace, respect our democratic choice, and immediately reinstate Sir Siminalayi Fubara . We did not elect Wike or Martins Amaewhule to govern us. Rivers State belongs to its people, not to the personal ambitions of a few.
It is time to end the politics of self-interest and return to the path of genuine service and progress.
