Afonkonyo advocates for Unity and Food Security in Taraba

The critical role of farmers in ensuring sustainable food supply has again been stressed.

This was expressed by a prominent elder statesman in Taraba State, High Chief Ezekiel Irimiya Afonkonyo during an interview with our correspondent, Rejoice Useni Yaro in Wukari, Taraba State.

The high chief urged farmers to exercise caution and avoid selling all their farm produce immediately after harvest.

He encouraged them to adopt a culture of food storage to prepare for unforeseen challenges and ensure availability during lean periods.

The High Chief advised farmers to align themselves with Governor Agbu Kefas’ initiatives, which advocate for prudent management of agricultural resources, including delaying the sale of food items to outsiders in order to prevent scarcity and stabilize prices.

He reiterated his belief in the potential of Taraba State to thrive through collective efforts and emphasized the importance of community collaboration in advancing the state’s development agenda.

Furthermore, the High Chief lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace in Taraba State.

He acknowledged the significant strides made under Governor Agbu Kefas’ leadership, noting that this year’s Christmas celebration was remarkably peaceful, adding that it was a testament to the effectiveness of the Governor’s peace building initiatives.

According to the High Chief, such achievements are critical to the state’s progress, as peace serves as the foundation for economic and social development.

The High Chief who commended youth in Wukari and across Taraba State for their role in maintaining peace and order during the Christmas celebrations urged them to continue to work hard and uphold values that will contribute to the progress and stability of the State.
