2027: Suswam Ready To Contest For Benue North East Senatorial Seat – Aide
A former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has reportedly indicated interest in the race for Benue North East Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Our Correspondent learnt that barring a last-minute change of mind, Suswam will soon declare his intention to contest the senatorial seat currently occupied by Senator Emmanuel Udende, who is eyeing a second term.
Commenting on the matter, the former governor’s media aide, Bede Bartholomew, stated on his Facebook page yesterday that, “2027: Suswam will be contesting for the seat of the Benue North East Senatorial District.”
Suswam, who represented Benue North East Senatorial District from 2019 to 2023 under the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the 2023 elections to Undende, the APC candidate, in the keenly contested poll.
The former governor, who served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives representing the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo federal constituency from 1999 to 2007, recently dumped the PDP and joined Governor Hyacinth Alia in the APC.
Suswam, who also served two terms as Benue State governor from 2007 to 2015, had cited persistent internal crisis within the PDP as the reason for his defection.
