Declines Action on MTEF And 2026 Appropriation Bill Until Investigations Are Concluded on the Allegations of Gross Misconduct.In compliance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, at the House 59th Legislative Sitting on Thursday, pledged to transmit the notices of Allegations of Gross Misconduct signed by the 26 members of the House against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu to the duo.The notices which listed eight grounds each of gross misconduct against the Governor and deputy with accompanying particulars were read on the Floor of the House by the Majority Leader, Hon. Major Jack and the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Linda Somiari- Stewart respectively.Rt. Hon. Amaewhule who received the notices of allegations of gross misconduct hinted that the House would follow through the process in line with Section 188 of the Constitution.In another development, the House through a Motion moved by Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Sylvanus Nwankwo resolved to decline actions on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2026 Appropriation Bill until the allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the Governor and his deputy have been comprehensively investigated.The House condemned the continued recalcitrant posture of Governor Siminialayi Fubara in his refusal to abide by the terms of the agreements reached during the peace parley brokered by President Bola Tinubu at different times.Commenting on the Motion, the Speaker said, going by the antecedents of Governor Fubara as an incorrigible personality who cannot be trusted, and as one who does not have respect for the office and person of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is now clear that it was a mistake to have him as Governor of Rivers State.Signed Martins Wachukwu Special Assistant On Media To The Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly January, Thursday 8, 2026.
