Residents of Atani community in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Givernment Area of Edo State, say they are enjoying the dividends of democracy, courtesy of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.
They expressed their appreciation when the promoter of “Edo: Nigeria’s Construction Site,” Mr. John Mayaki, recently visited the area.
One resident, Mr. Emmanuel Okoduwa said the cost of motorcycle transport between Uromi and Atani has dropped significantly since the road was repaired.
According to Okoduwa, “Before, motorcycles charged about ₦2,000 to bring passengers from Uromi town to Atani because the road was in a terrible condition. Riders avoided the road,” the resident said.
“But today we thank Governor Okpebholo for fixing the road for the Atani community. Now the fare is about ₦500.”
According to residents, the road project was carried out between November and December last year and stretches from Angle 90 to Ubiaja.
Another resident added: “The road was in a very bad state before the governor intervened. We truly appreciate his efforts. This is why we say we are enjoying the dividends of democracy.”
