- I sincerely wish to thank my brother and legal luminary cum nollywood actor turned politician, Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo, for his legal prowess amid issues bothering on the internal leadership and management squabbles in the Labour Party. His take, as contained in his resignation letter were pointed, weighty and factual.
- My brother, Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo from the Wawaa nation, Nsukka tribe, Enugu north senatorial zone of Enugu State had truly laboured but quitting will make you a political neophyte in the Labour Party LP who rather than stand to rescue the fastest -growing political party in Nigeria that attained greater National prominence as the second leading opposition political party in Nigeria that come third in the last presidential election scoring over six million (6,000,000) votes decided to run away !
- Barr Kenneth Okonkwo saw many illegalities and lawlessness on the part of the leadership of the Labour Party under Julius Abure and decided to toe the path of honour as a sound legal mind. This is a big feather to his cap ab-initio as no sane democrat would queue behind Julius Abure whose unlawful tenure expired on 8th June 2024 and has refused to let go as if to say Labour Party LP is now a Monarchy where internal democracy is now of no consequence in the Labour Party LP.
- Julius Abure’s naivety and quackery about the game of politics, coupled with his poor legal background, exacerbated many woes in the Labour Party. The above no doubt, fueled the internal squabbles in the party which necessitated the intervention of Comrade Engr. (Dr.) Eragbe Anslem Aphimia (C.REG, COA) a Professor of practical political party leadership and management expert in particular and other like minded party adherents like Comrade Oko Eze Splendour, the Ebonyi State 2023 Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party LP who have stood solidly for the salvaging of the Labour Party LP
- The presence of these men is worthy of emulation and teaches on the tenacity and resilience required of men of goodwill to fight a worthy course to attaining victory against the shenanigans of Julius Abure who has insisted on selling off the Labour Party to the ruling APC and the PDP by fragmenting the party and ensuring there is no cohesion in the party ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
- The Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential campaign outing had a leadership that short-changed the Northern block in the scheme of things in the Labour Party for keeping both the Acting National Chairman and Presidential candidates as Southerners knowing that politics is first and foremost a game of number and mass movement.
- Southern Nigerians occupied the slots of Presidential candidate, the Labour Party LP National Chairman and the Director General, DG of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organization LPPCO while Northern Nigerians occupied the National Secretary and Vice-presidential Candidate’s slots with fiduciary party functions allocated or attached.
- Such a structural imbalance in the Labour Party LP weakened the party’s structures in the Northern region of the country. It ultimately contributed to the Labour Party’s poor outing in Northern Nigeria during the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
- Julius Abure, in a bid to allow his selfishness to fester on the affairs of the Labour Party LP cornered the sensitive positions in the party that ought to have been balanced between the Southern and Northern blocs of the party to the South and leaving the Northern block short-changed and without the capacity to garner support and votes required sufficiently. Such grave anomaly as orchestrated by Julius Abure in the Labour Party automatically rendered the party invisible in the North.
- As one born in Niger state, I vividly understand that politics in the North is just a business of “united we stand”. Political party membership cohesion is a serious business with potential for much gain in any democratic business. It is this political cohesion of its members that strengthens the party and places her in the vantage position of enjoying winning ways which the Labour Party LP Lacked under the unlawful tenure of Julius Abure from 29th March 2021 – 8th June 2024.
- The Labour Party LP had few foot soldiers in the North which hampered her visibility in the region. The result was obvious as statistics showed that after the 2023 general election, the Labour Party LP recorded just a minute fraction of votes from Northern Nigeria. The party did not field enough candidates to vie for the various elective positions in the party in Northern Nigeria.
- The chances of the Labour Party LP winning in the North then became a chagrin as maintaining a spread and balance in a given political party scheme of things does the winning magic. Politics is a grassroot business of lifting the people and uniting the nation. Unity is strength !
- While it is an established fact that the Labour Party LP stood aloof from any kangaroo merging or political alignment in the 2023 general elections, it cannot now be said that the party may even survive ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria as the constitutional rights of citizens to decamp to any political party of his or her own choice is now at play replete with Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation intent and meaning that many people have lost hope in the party further necessitating vote of no confidence as already passed on Julius Abure whose unlawful tenure expired on 8th June 2024.
- the honourable thing expected of such a wielder of a very sensitive and important office in the party is to resign amidst the Inspector General of Police, IGP Prosecution order to the Honourable Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice HAGF-MJ for the Prosecution of Julius Abure and others for Criminality bothering on:
- Perjury
- Forgery and
- Criminal Conspiracy
- Members of a political party are like soldiers, while the party is the barrack. No one carries the barrack, likewise the party, so Julius Abure must quit the stage now ! The Labour Party LP Presidential Campaign funding was skewed against the Northern block turning the party as a southern party with only the southern ideology and greedy manifestations. That is not how to run a political party constitutionally and legally.
- The resultant effect of Julius Abure’s amateur party leadership trajectory in Nigeria was the decimation of internal democracy under his watch. A proof that Julius Abure became the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party unlawfully from the position of the National Secretary rather than the Deputy National Chairmen whose constitutional provisions it is to become Acting National Chairman in the event of a vacancy in the office of the National Chairman
- The leadership and management failures on the part of Julius Abure whose unlawful tenure expired on 8th June 2024 no doubt fueled defections intended from the Labour Party LP by Barr. Okonkwo’s resignation move under reference. The fall of Julius Abure would usher in the a new and effective administration in the Labour Party LP to take it’s place as the best political party in Nigeria. My faith and fate on the survival of the Labour Party LP is unshaken and powered with hope amid the current uncertainties in the party.
- The Labour Party LP has the best hands to steer its affairs in the next few years and beginning with conduct of congresses and convention that will usher in the All Inclusive And Expansive National Convention 2025 in the preparation for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
- I am very eager to be more workaholic to installing the President of Nigeria of the Labour Party LP extraction from the youth fold come 2027. I am ready to keep serving in the Labour Party LP like one playing the drum & band music simultaneously.
- Join us in the rebirth of the new Labour Party LP that will stand on the tripod of internal democracy, equal opportunity and social justice as willed. Your Labour in the Labour Party LP must reflect the Labour of our heros past and future aspirations of an egalitarian Nigeria society fully restructured and functional to compete in the global political and economic spaces.
In love I call us all to labour in gains in the Labour Party LP!
Shalom
Labour Party LP !
Forward Ever !
Backward Never !”
God be our helper
