The Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has stepped up its “Operation Keep Port Harcourt Clean” campaign on Wednesday, with deployment of its enforcement team across major streets in the city to apprehend violators of waste management regulations.
Areas targeted include Stadium Road, Rumuola, Elekahia, and Rumuokwuta, where, according to the
acting Sole Administrator of RIWAMA, Hon. Prince Obi Ohia, ten persons were arrested for improper waste disposal.
Prince Ohia revealed that these defaulters are set to appear in the RIWAMA mobile court on Thursday and emphasized that this initiative is an ongoing effort to promote a healthy environment.
He urged residents to refrain from indiscriminate waste disposal and to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness.
The RIWAMA boss further called on motorists to exercise caution while driving, ensuring the safety of sanitation workers who are diligently performing their duties on busy roads.
