EDO STATE GOVERNMENT DEBUNKS RUMOURS ON NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES TO LG WORKERS

Edo State Government has debunked rumours, making the rounds in some quarters, that some local government workers in the State are being owed salary due to the purported crisis in the Councils.

Debunking the rumours in a press statement issued in Benin City, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Fred Itua said the rumours were not only false but also mischievous and intended to mislead the public.

He called on the general public to ignore the rumours, as they are the handiwork of mischief makers who are envious of the remarkable successes recorded by the Monday Okpebholo’s administration since coming on board in November, 2024.

Reaffirming Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to workers welfare in Edo State, he clarified that no government worker in the State, Local Government workers inclusive are owed any salary, as all payments, including that of January, 2025 had been paid.

“As a result of this total commitment, the State Government has continued to pay the salaries of local government workers without fail, since assuming office.

“This remarkable feat is all the more impressive, considering the setbacks in allocation payments that the State has faced due to the ongoing legal crisis between the State and the embattled Local Government chairmen.

“Governor Okpebholo’s pragmatic approach in ensuring that no Edo worker, irrespective of status is made to pass through undue hardship, is a testament to his zeal for workers’ welfare.”
