Okpebolo’s Road Construction Driving Edo’s Economic Revival, Job Creation — Idahagbon

The member representing Edo, Ekiti and Ondo States at the Federal Civil Service Commission, Barr. Henry -Williams Idahagbon, has praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for using massive road construction to break Edo State’s long-standing infrastructural stagnation and stimulate economic growth.

According to Idahagbon, the governor’s deliberate focus on developing both rural and urban areas simultaneously is transforming Edo into a fast-emerging multi-city state. He said the integrated road development policy represents a clear departure from the past and signals a renewed benchmark for sustainable development.

Speaking in his New Year message on Sunday, Idahagbon said Governor Okpebholo’s road projects are unlocking jobs across multiple sectors, including construction firms, local builders, indigenous engineers and architects, quarry operators, cement suppliers and iron benders. He added that improved road networks will further revive the transportation sector and boost commercial activities across the state.

While assuring greater opportunities for Edo youths in the new year, he said Edo has quality, well-honed engineers and other professionals who were_ never engaged in the development of the state; stressing that the incumbent administration has ended the era of importing human resources from other States while qualified indigenous professionals are idle and jobless.

He maintained that, Governor Okpebholo is building a new Edo State anchored on inclusive governance, expanded political participation and the integration of citizens with innovative ideas.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Barr. Idahagbon said the governor has “a lot on his menu” for the people in 2026. He called on Edo residents, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation, to support the administration’s policies aimed at repositioning the state’s economy, which he said suffered severe decline and infrastructural decay under previous administration. “Edo State would have been in infrastructural limbo if Okpebholo had not come to the rescue. The ongoing construction of the rampart park bridge is a clear indication of better days ahead”

“In just one year in office, infrastructural challenges across the state that once seemed insurmountable, and development projects that appeared impossible to execute, are now yielding to the purposeful efforts of our amiable governor. He has continued to anchor his administration’s actions on the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability, remaining focused on what works best in the ultimate interest of the people,” he said.

While wishing everyone in Edo, Ekiti and Ondo States a happy New Year, he urged residents to embrace unity and shun political bitterness in the new year, stressing that Edo can only move forward through collective effort and shared commitment to progres in our collective effort to heal all that ails us,” the statement added.
