EDO STATE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

UPDATE ON THE BULLYING INCIDENT

The Edo State Ministry of Education strongly condemns the disturbing incident captured in a video currently circulating on social media showing a student assaulting another student at Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City.

Such acts of violence are unacceptable and completely against the values of discipline and safety expected in all schools across Edo State.

The Ministry has immediately constituted a five-man committee to investigate the incident and unravel the circumstances surrounding it. The students involved in the incident have been expelled and will face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to other students who may engage in such acts.

The Ministry will also carry out a comprehensive audit of the school to further examine student activities as they relate to the safety and security of every child.

The Edo State Government and the Ministry of Education remain committed to upholding educational standards and ensuring the safety of every child in Edo State.

Signed
Mrs. Edith Ebomoyi
Permanent Secretary
Edo State Ministry of Education
