Obi of Ubulu-Uno Visits OFAAC President Ahead of 2026 Anioma Cultural Festival

The Obi of Ubulu-Uno Kingdom and 2nd Vice Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Obi Henry Afamefune Kikachukwu, Ph.D., has paid a royal visit to the President of the Organization for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC), Arc. Kester Ifeadi, ahead of the 2026 Anioma Cultural Festival scheduled for Easter Monday, April 6.

The visit provided an opportunity for both leaders to deliberate on issues of interest to the Anioma people, including progress on the ongoing Anioma Culture and Heritage Project, and preparations for the forthcoming Anioma Cultural Festival.

Briefing the monarch during the visit, Arc. Ifeadi outlined the progress recorded on the Anioma Culture and Heritage Project, describing it as a landmark initiative aimed at documenting the rich history, traditions and cultural identity of the Anioma people.

According to him, the project is expected to culminate in the production of a comprehensive reference document that would serve as an Anioma Encyclopaedia, accessible to scholars, researchers and the global community.

“This project is driven purely by passion for our people and our heritage. God has been merciful to me in life, and what remains important is contributing meaningfully to the growth and identity of Anioma. Our challenge in Anioma has always been the lack of proper documentation of our historical and cultural identity. This project seeks to address that gap once and for all”, Ifeadi said.

Further notifying the monarch of the existence of a formidable 8-man steering committee and over 30-member sub-committee, made up of academic professors, doctors and research experts, the OFAAC President expressed gratitude to them for their synergetic tenacity in working with OFAAC to achieve the envisaged milestone for Anioma Nation.

In addition, he reported that out of the professors working on the project, Prof. Eric Eboh had been magnanimously appointed by the State Government as a substantive Vice Chancellor for the University of Delta, Agbor, maintaining that it calls for celebration.

Arc. Ifeadi also informed the monarch of the ongoing efforts to enhance the content and overall quality of the 2026 Anioma Cultural Festival, noting that this year’s edition would be more vibrant and expansive, with activities expected to reflect a cultural carnival.

In his remarks, the Obi of Ubulu-Uno commended OFAAC for its dedication to the promotion of Anioma culture and identity, assuring the organization of the continued support of the traditional institution.

The monarch noted that OFAAC has played a significant role in fostering unity among Anioma communities and in strengthening the visibility and relevance of traditional institutions within the region.

He urged Arc. Ifeadi and his team to remain committed to promoting unity, peace and progress among the Anioma people through initiatives such as the Anioma Cultural Festival.

The royal father was received by the OFAAC President in the company of the organization’s Vice President, Mr. Paddy Ugboh, Director Mr. Emmanuel Ogwu, and OFAAC Media Consultant, Comrade Patrick Ochei.
