NDOKWA WEST NOA CAMPAIGNS, SENSITIZES . RESIDENTS ON HUMAN RIGHTS, INSECURITY AND AIDS PREVENTION.

There were intensive and drastic campaigns and sensitisations of Ndokwa West residents by Officers of National Orientation Agency NOA Ndokwa West office against Insecurity, AIDS, Get Rich Quick and on the importance of Human Rights. The exercise which took place simultaneousely across the country lasted for two weeks.
The National Orientation Officer for the Local Government Area, Nzete Joyce who led the team, went round the hospitals, Schools, markets, motor parks, churches and other public places spoke on Security, Human Rights, AIDS prevention and tips against Get Rich Quick syndrome. She advised the members of the public to know their neighbors, report all strange persons and movements to appropriate quarters and To always speak out when necessary, adding that House owners and Landlords should request for guarantor’s permit before giving out apartments to renters, particularly strangers.
Still on security tips, Madam Nzete tasked parents on educating their children on how to lock and secure their doors and windows, know their names and parents names, should not eat anything given to them by strangers, be conscious and at alert at all times and avoid lone movements, especially at night among others warnings
On Human Rights, the NOA officer pointed out that human rights are inherent to all human beings regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity or religion, adding that it is the right to life, liberty, freedom from slavery, freedom of worship, opinion and expression as well as right to education.
She also spoke on prevention from AIDS by knowing one’s status, get tested, obtain antiretroviral treatment and avoid stigmatization and discrimination of victims. Speaking further, Madam Nzete likened the “Get-Rich-Quick” syndrome to the influence of pear group pressure, and advised parents to always caution their children against desperate pursuit of money and laziness which breeds unholy acts such as kidnapping, ritual killings/ organs harvesting as well as illegal sales of Arms and ammunition to bandits and other criminals for quick money.
