IMO AT 50, HEROES PASTAND PRESENT.

What a coincidence of history, that Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbawike of Okigwe South federal Constituency, was the Spokesman of the delegation that presented their application before Justice Ayo Irifeke panel for the creation of Imo State on February 3rd 1976.

Today in history, Rt. Hon Chike Olemgbe, a bonafide son of Okigwe SouthFederal Constituency, stands out as the number one Legislature of the Imo State House of Assembly, as Imolites mark the 50th year anniversary of the creation of Imo State.

Popularly known as the weeping Governor, his Excellency, late Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbawike, by nature’s providence, became the first elected Executive Governor of Imo State in 1976.

Today, after many years he left office as the Governor of Imo State, Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbawikes dynamic, focused and industrious Leadership remains indelible, as a case study in the archive of political Leadership study in Imo State.

Fortunately, on Tuesday, February 3rd 2026, a man known to be a student of Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbawikes Political philosophy in Leadership, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, will be mounting the podium, to address Imolites.

It is indeed, a coincidence of history, for the fact that after 50yrs of Imo States Political Leadership, Imo State is blessed with a political Leader, in the person of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, that believes, acts and executes projects in line with the political philosophy of the founding Fathers of Imo State.

Today in Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, is laying down a good developmental legacy, in the areas of road construction accros the three Zones of Imo State, the establishment of Imo independent power Station, the ongoing construction of Imo Seaport, the Skill up Imo project, the Imo health insurance Scheme, the already completed Imo five Star Hotel, the world class Imo international conference center, the present Imo gas plant project, with it’s multiplier effect, in the areas of industry, petrochemicals, multiple job creation, showcasing Imo State with 13Percent derivation, as the state with the biggest gas deposit in West Africa.

Indeed, all these achievements, in the shortest Leadership period of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State.

In his state of humility, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, always gives thanks to the members of the Imo State House of Assembly, under the Leadership of Rt. Honourable Chike Olemgbe for sharing the same ideal political philosophy with him which is centered on development.

Indeed, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma was able to discover in Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, a good man.

A man whose dreams and aspirations is centered on his passion to assist the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, develop Imo State in line with the leadership attributes of the founding fathers of Imo State.

Rt. Honourable Chike Olemgbe, a man under who’s watch as the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Imo State is recovered.

Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Infrastructure Governor of the year 2025, in such sound Political association with the Imo tenth Assembly as great ally has been able to impact development in Imo State in a time like now.

As Imo State celebrates her 50yrs anniversary, it is on record in history that Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbawike and Rt. Honourable Chike Olemgbe, the two great sons of Okigwe South are being recorded in history as among those who put in their best in the actualization of the Imo of our dream.
