Governor Fubara Builds Ultra-Modern Palace for Akpor Kingdom

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has fulfilled a historic promise to the Akpor Kingdom in Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State, by delivering a grand palace for the Nyeweli Akpor (Ruler), His Majesty, Eze Levi Orlu Ozuowuowu Oriebe, the kingdom’s first in 200 years.
At the commissioning on March 10, 2025, the governor shed tears of joy, stating that the project was a response to the request made by Akpor’s traditional rulers during the Okania-Ogbogoro road flag-off.
The palace, built in just six months, includes a 5-bedroom duplex, a 120-seat hall, a conference room, a royal garden, a bar, service quarters, and a security house. A separate personal residence was also provided for the current Nyeweli, ensuring his family’s comfort after his tenure.
Fubara, who was honored with the chieftaincy title Eze Ome Nma 1, urged Rivers people to remain peaceful and not support evil. He assured that his administration would continue delivering impactful projects despite political challenges.
Commissioning the palace, King Chike A. A. Worlu Wodo, Chairman
of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, praised Fubara’s respect for traditional institutions, emphasizing their role in peacebuilding and governance.
The Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte, lauded the governor’s commitment, noting that the palace was completed as scheduled. Mr. Sam Ichechi Amadi, Head of Local Government Administration in Obio/Akpor, described it as a cultural relic and an enduring legacy for the Akpor people.
