…Donates N50M to Church in memory of Aide’s mother

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has extolled the sterling qualities of Madam Ayebadieye Edward Dorcas Igbeta, the late mother of Dr. Ayiebaesin J. Beredugo, at a funeral service in her honour in Nembe, stressing that she led an exemplary life.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, while speaking at the requiem service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Nembe, Bayelsa State, Gov. Fubara donated N50 million to support the completion of the Cathedral Church in honour of Madam Ayebadieye Igbeta, who was an ardent worshipper at the Cathedral before her passing at the age of 79.

Gov. Fubara told the congregation at the funeral that the Church may want him and his entourage to visit again, but for something to celebrate, not for a burial anymore, saying he was at the event with the Rivers people to condole and support Dr. Ayiebaesin Beredugo at this moment of grief.

According to him, “Beredugo has been one man who has supported our government exceptionally. He is a Principal Officer in my government, a stakeholder, and a very strong ally.

“We are here as a government to show, in this difficult time, that we stand with him. We know no consolation can fill the gap of this loss, especially a mother’s loss.

“I strongly believe that the way Mama lived and the good things we read about her, there is no doubt she will be in the good side of heaven.”

Moved to announce the goodwill, Gov. Fubara noted, “I have been made to understand that the Cathedral will need strong support. We are going to support the completion of the Cathedral in memory of Mama with the sum of N50 million.”

He commended everyone who made it from Rivers State, especially the government functionaries who came to give support to Ayiebaesin Beredugo as he bid his mother farewell.

Governor Fubara was accompanied on the funeral visit by his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and other members of the State Executive Council who had come to pay their last respects to Madam Igbeta and commiserate with the Principal Secretary to the Governor.

Also on the Governor’s entourage were Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo; Chief of Staff, Government House, Edison Ehie; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo; Hon. Scott Tommy; Hon. Boniface Emerengwa; Hanny Woko; Hon. Fubara Hart; Chief Ambrose Nwuzi; Hon. Anderson Igbiks; Hon. Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja, amongst others.
