The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe has expressed immense happiness over the decision by one of Nigeria’s highest citadels of learning, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) to confer an honorary doctorate degree in Management on the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma on the occasion of the institution’s convocation ceremony, Saturday, December 7, 2024 .
Speaker Chike Olemgbe in a press statement issued to news men, commended FUTO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Nnenna Otti, the Senate and Council of the University for conceiving, recommending and ratifying that the institution’s highest honour be conferred on a visionary governor presently rated as the beauty of the present day democratic dispensation in Nigerian federation.
According to Chike Olemgbe, the conferment of honorary doctorate degree on the Imo state Chief Executive, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON is of unparalleled value to all Imo people at home and in the diaspora because, FUTO under the leadership of Prof Mrs Nnenna Otti, a personality of international reputation who insists on justice and fairness, goes for excellence in service to the nation.
” The federal university of technology with its present crop of leaders, must have thoroughly pruned the Lion of Southeast Geo-political Zone, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state and found him worthy of this enviable honour. This is why as speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, I am very happy over this positive development. It is an honour well-deserved, a recognition for good governance and appreciation of Imo people’s wise decision in giving Hope Uzodimma the mandate for a second tenure in office”, the number one lawmaker in Imo state of Nigeria stated.
