The member representing Isoko South Constituency (11) at the Delta State house of Assembly, Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo said that his decision to empower his Constituents with knowledge based empowerment Programmes (rather than buying commercial) motorcycle for youths rather than was geared towards making them economic giants. Hon. Onwo made this hearty statement during the presentation of certificates and cheques to 38 youth trainees to facilitators of the programme after the conclusion of their training in different agricultural areas at the Bio-resource development centre, Odi in Bayelsa State, under his Okpobrisi sustainable development scheme, said buying motorcycles popularly known as Okada for youths is now history.
Speaking further, Hon. Onwo who is the chairman (House Committee on housing and women affairs) said that the trainees were being empowered with all they required to start their own farms without giving them money. Hon. Onwo while congratulating the graduating trainees charged them to put to good use knowledge acquired in the course of training. The state commissioner for Agriculture and Natural resources, Chief Julius Egbedi also commended. Hon. Ferguson Onwo for the training programme stressing that the ministry was willing to partner with elected and political appointees who wants to empower their constituents through agriculture.
