The Deputy Leader of Ughelli North Local Government Council Legislative Arm in Delta state, Honourable Onoriode Agofure, has empowered 45 constituents with sewing machines, hairdressing kits, welding machines and cash worth N500, 000.

The programme which was tagged, Hon. Onoriode Agofure Empowerment Scheme was held at Uvwiamuge Community, Agbarho kingdom and had political juggernauts, captains of industries and several others in attendance.

Hon. Onoriode Agofure, Deputy Leader, Ughelli North Local Government Council Legislative Arm, presenting a sewing machine to one of the beneficiaries of his Empowerment Scheme at Uvwiamuge, Agbarho Kingdom, Delta State.

In his speech during the presentation of the 7 Hair dressing kits to seven persons, 4 sewing machines to four persons, 4 welding machines to four persons and cash worth N500,000.00 to 30 persons, Hon. Onoriode Agofure said the Empowerment Scheme was in line with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s human capital development agenda in creating wealth for a stronger Delta.

According to him, the empowerment scheme was carried out to ease the pains of his people, since COVID-19 has crippled the economy.

He said: “Many businesses have folded up, so I painstakingly took it upon myself to carry out the empowerment programme.

“I am committed to preach and contribute my quota to promote the Stronger Delta mantra of His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa to the people at the grassroots.

“I advise our leaders at the corridors of power to assist our people in their best capacity. I assure you that I will be carrying out more empowerment projects for my people,” he added.
