Akwa Ibom people in Abuja pledge support for Governor Umo Eno’s 2027 re_election bid

Akwa Ibom people under the aegis of Abuja Align Movement for Governor Umo Eno 2027 has expressed readiness to collaborate with the office of the Special Assistants to the Governor on Mobilization, Abuja, Lady Mmemaobong Ekukinam and Comrade Kingsley Iwok to galvanize support for Governor Umo Eno’s re-election bid in 2027.

The Chairman of the group, Hon. Edet Akpan made the pronouncement when he led a delegation of executive members on a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Special Assistant to Governor Eno on Mobilization, Lady Mmemaobong Ekukinam and his colleague Comrade Kingsley Iwok at the Liaison Office on August 15.

The group commended Governor Umo Eno’s administration for its people-centric projects and development initiatives, pledging unwavering support for his re-election in 2027 to enable him to build on his achievements.

They reaffirmed to partner with the office of the Special assistant on Mobilization to mobilize Akwa Ibom indigenes in Abuja and 19 northern states to support Governor Umo Eno, the Senate President ,Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria,Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of the group,the president Hon. Edet hinted that they are making plans and encouraging voter registration and relocation of voting points from Abuja to Akwa Ibom State in view of the 2027 elections but appealed for support to mobilize the people for the registration.

In his remarks,the political leader of the group ,Tommy Etim Okon Ph.D emphasized the need for Governor Eno to strengthen presence and engage with the Akwa Ibom community in federal capital territory and the 19 Northern States by hosting a Town Hall meeting in Abuja noting that this would create the forum to showcasing achievements of His Excellency as well as build support for his re_election in 2027.

He opined that this strategic meeting with community leaders and stakeholders would further build the people’s trust in the Governor as one who is committed to their welfare and concerns and ensuring that their voices are heard.

He pleaded with the government to ensure greater representation and inclusion of Akwa Ibom people residents in Abuja in governance and decision making roles.

Tommy pledged cooperation with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, emphasizing the need for them to connect the government with the community and replicate the benefits of Umo Eno’s administration in FCT and the 19 northern states.

He praised Comrade Kingsley Iwok for supporting the community through various empowerment programs that provide incentives to the people.

Other group members, Rev. Francis Ekanem and Francis Udoakpan, echoed Tommy Okon’s views, stressing the importance of appointing Akwa Ibom indigenes from Abuja to key positions. They humbly expressed the community’s hope that the Governor would consider their welfare needs, which would in turn encourage their continued support, particularly in the 2027 re-election.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Evang. Mrs. Josephine Odungide, Women’s Leader of Abuja Align Movement extended warm congratulations to Lady Mmema Ekukinam, as she embarked on her new role alongside Comrade Kingsley Iwok.

She called for meaningful empowerment initiatives, comprehensive support, and targeted incentives for the women of Abuja.

These initiatives include spiritual enrichment programs, such as pilgrimages to Jerusalem, and festive care packages during state events.

Evang. Odungide said women’s concerns should be taken seriously, especially since they are loyal supporters of the Governor. She appreciated the Governor’s efforts in empowering women and acknowledged the late First Lady’s positive impactful Initiatives on women in Abuja.

Mrs. Odungide pleaded the Special Assistant Lady Mmemaobong Ekukinam to effectively carry the women along, listen attentively to their concerns and ensure their voices are conveyed to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.

In her response, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization Lady Mmema Ekukinam expressed deep appreciation for the patience and understanding shown by the Akwa Ibom community in Abuja, assuring them of her unwavering commitment to their welfare.

She pledged to ensure that the government replicates the successful initiatives and efforts that have benefited Akwa Ibom people back home, tailoring them to meet the unique needs of Akwa Ibom indigenes in the nation’s capital.

In a bid to foster collaboration and achieve shared goals, Lady Ekukinam emphasized her desire to work closely with key stakeholders, including her Colleague Comrade Kingsley Iwok and other community leaders

.She sought divine guidance to ensure the success of her endeavors, praying for God’s blessings and protection over the Akwa Ibom community in Abuja.
