Ramadan: Bauchi senator distributes 18, 200 bags of rice to his constituents
The lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Buba, on Sunday inaugurated the distribution of 18, 200 bags of rice to families in Bauchi to support them during the Ramadan fast.
Speaking at the event in Bauchi, Buba said the initiative was aimed at supporting Muslims to observe the Ramadan fast and easing the burden on vulnerable families.
He said the rice would be distributed to deserving families across the seven local government are as of the zone—Alkakeri, Bauchi, Bogoro, Dass, Kirfi, Tafawa Balewa and Toro.
“In a move that extends beyond my immediate constituency, we earmarked 3,500 bags for Bauchi North and 3,000 for Bauchi Central.
“The remaining bags are designated for APC leaders, selected organisations and other stakeholders across the state, ”he said.
The senator urged members of the distribution committee to ensure fairness and accountability in the exercise.
Chairman of the committee, Abdulkadir Gyengyen, commended the gesture and assured that effective monitoring would be carried out to guard against diversion.
