The National Leadership of the Darts Federation of Nigeria has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, at his office in Benin City.

Speaking during the visit, the South-South Zonal Representative of the Federation, Dr. Edwin Omoregie, commended the Commission’s leadership for its remarkable contributions to sports development in Edo State.

“First and foremost, I wish to specially appreciate you, Sir, for your outstanding contributions and improvements in sports development in Edo. Your leadership and dedication to uplifting sports have not gone unnoticed,” he said.

Dr. Omoregie, who was accompanied by the Federation’s Technical Director, Mr. Amin Aimuaemmosa, said the visit was to introduce the newly elected officers of the Federation and seek collaboration with the Edo State Sports Commission in promoting the game of darts across the state.

He noted that the Federation, under the leadership of Mr. Adeyemi Awolola (President) and Mr. Vitalis Onokwugha (Vice President)—both elected on October 25, 2025, at the National Sports Commission in Abuja—has outlined plans to grow the sport from the grassroots to schools in Edo State.

“Our vision is to bring darts closer to the people, from the grassroots to schools, as a way of catching them young, sharpening their minds, and helping them develop focus and discipline. Darts is a sport of precision and intelligence, and we believe our young ones will embrace it with enthusiasm,” Dr. Omoregie stated.

He also announced plans to host a major Darts Tournament in Edo State by the end of January 2026, which will attract top players and champions from across the country. The event, he said, would showcase talent and inspire more youths to take up the sport.

“To achieve this, we seek the support of the Edo State Sports Commission and the State Government in securing sponsorship and logistics to make our inaugural Edo Darts Tournament a success,” he appealed.

Responding through his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, expressed appreciation to the delegation and assured them of the Commission’s readiness to collaborate with the Darts Federation to advance the sport in Edo State.

Representing the Chairman, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Executive Director (Edo North), commended the Federation for its initiative and commitment to grassroots sports development.

“We are open to partnerships that align with our vision of expanding the sports ecosystem in Edo. Darts is a growing sport with great potential, and we will work together to ensure it thrives in the state,” Ilaboya said.

Others present at the meeting included Samuel Anthony Mokwunyin, Mercy Salami-Momodu (Secretary), Obire Bawo (Head Coach, Darts), and Mr. Amin Aimuaemmosa (Technical Director).
