2027: Desmond Elliot Seeks Re-election to Lagos State House of Assembly

Nollywood actor and lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to seek re-election.

Elliot disclosed this in a statement on Sunday to constituents, residents, political associates, and stakeholders in Surulere.

He stated that his decision was driven by his commitment to sustain ongoing development and advance the collective interests of the constituency.

He said his return to the Assembly would elevate him to the status of a ranking member, a position he noted comes with advantages that could attract greater benefits to Surulere.

According to him, senior lawmakers are often given priority in legislative activities, which would place the constituency in a stronger position to gain from government programmes and decisions.

The lawmaker expressed appreciation to party leaders, ward executives, community leaders, youth and women groups, as well as other stakeholders for their continued support and confidence in his leadership.

He also urged his supporters to remain calm, united, and focused throughout the political process, emphasising the importance of peace, cooperation, and mutual respect.

Elliot reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger Surulere and contributing meaningfully to the development of Lagos State if given another mandate.

He wrote partly, “This decision is borne out of a continued commitment to serve, to consolidate on the progress we have made together, and to further advance the collective aspirations of our people. I remain deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and solidarity you have shown me over the years.

“May I state here that my going back makes me automatically a ranking member and loads of benefits come to our constituency as a result of this feat. By the grace of God almighty I become one of the oldest members in the house and in a structure where the older members are given priority concentration we can be rest assured surulere will benefit immensely.”
