Yuletide: Senator Imasuen Distributes Hundreds of Bags of Rice Across Edo South

In a Yuletide outreach aimed at easing the festive burden on households, the Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Barrister Neda Imasuen, has commenced the distribution of hundreds of bags of rice and other food items to residents across the district.

The Christmas intervention, which features 10kg, 25kg and 50kg bags of rice, targets internally displaced persons (IDPs), the less privileged and other vulnerable groups, including widows and orphanage homes across the local government areas of Edo South.

The exercise forms part of a seasonal palliative programme designed to ensure that constituents are able to share in the joy of the season.

Uptown Press Nigeria reports that, in addition to rice, beneficiaries are receiving other essential food items such as spaghetti, bags of garri and salt.

The distribution has also been extended to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the district, in what aides described as a gesture of inclusiveness and goodwill during the Yuletide period.

Senator Imasuen said the initiative was driven by his commitment to supporting the people during the Christmas holidays, particularly at a time when many families are grappling with economic pressures.

“This is a modest way of standing with our people and ensuring that they can celebrate Christmas with a sense of dignity and joy,” the senator said, describing the items as part of his ongoing palliative measures for constituents.

He also called on Christians in Edo State and across Nigeria to use the Christmas season to promote peace, love and unity, noting that social harmony remains essential for meaningful development.

Beneficiaries who spoke with journalists expressed gratitude to the senator for what they described as a timely and compassionate gesture, commending him for prioritising the welfare of vulnerable members of the society during the festive season.
