Youths Purchase Nomination Form For Aber To Contest Benue-North Senate Seat

A group of youths in Benue State has bought the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial nomination form to encourage a retired assistant comptroller-general of Customs, Aber Terseer Benjamin, to contest the Benue North-West seat.

The youths, under the platform “Aber for Progress and Change,” over the weekend unveiled a nomination form they bought for the retiree, in what political observers described as an attempt to alter the dynamics of an already competitive contest in the zone.

The development came amid growing permutations around the Benue North-West seat, where a sitting senator and other aspirants are believed to be positioning ahead of the APC primaries.

The coordinator of the group, Iornem Ivse, said the move was aimed at compelling Aber to join the race.

“We have gone beyond calls. We pooled resources to buy the form to demonstrate the urgency of our demand,” he said.

Analysts say the intervention by the youths had introduced a new variable into the contest, particularly if Aber accepts the draft and joins the race with an organised support base.

They note that such moves, while often symbolic, can signal emerging blocs within party structures and reshape alignments ahead of party’s primaries.
