UGHELLI NORTH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, OLOROGUN JARO EGBO PRESENTS THE 2026 ANNUAL BUDGET ESTIMATE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO THE LEGISLATIVE HOUSE FOR CONFIRMATION/ APPROVAL.

.. As he submitted a budget estimate of 18.2bn for the 2026 fiscal year, which he christened as “the Budget of Positive Consolidation”.

The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun Barr. Jaro Movudu Egbo KSC, has today Thursday 26th February, 2026, presented the 2026 Annual Budget Estimate of the Ughelli North Local Government Council to the Legislative House of the Local Government for Confirmation and Approval. The 2026 budget is titled “Budget of Positive Consolidation”

During his address in the Legislative Chamber, Olorogun Jaro Egbo articulated that the rationale for designating this year’s budget estimate as the “Budget of Positive Consolidation” was to build upon the accomplishments achieved by his administration over the past year. He further stated that by the time of his second anniversary, he aims to have completed several projects initiated in the previous year, along with introducing additional new projects. These initiatives include youth and women’s empowerment, sustainable health programs sanitation, amongst others.

The Chairman revealed that the previous budget, referred to as the Budget of Meaningful Development, was responsibly and effectively utilized. He emphasized several key projects that were undertaken as part of the previous budget. These projects include the Ughelli North Local Government Tobore Oborevwori Cottage Hospital, which has been officially commissioned and equipped to meet established standards; the New Ultra-modern Secretariat building, which is 80% completed; the twin courts building project; the 500 KVA Transformer Sub-station project; and the Ultra-modern 40 Lock-up shops, which are nearing completion and are scheduled for commissioning during the second-year anniversary.

The Council Chairman also remarked that with this year’s budget estimate totaling ₦18,294,901,539.33 (Eighteen Billion, Two Hundred and Ninety-four Million, Nine Hundred and One Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-Nine Naira, Thirty-Three Kobo Only) allocated for both Recurrent and Capital Expenditures, greater dividends of democracy, as outlined in his manifesto and campaign promises, in alignment with the RENEWED HOPE FOR THE MORE AGENDA of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and His Excellency, Rt Hon Dr. (Elder) Sheriff F.O Oborevwori, would be enjoyed by all citizens and residents of Ughelli North Local Government Council.

Barr. Jaro Egbo emphasized that in the implementation of the proposed budget, he intends to prioritize projects that are centered around the people, the development of infrastructural facilities, the empowerment of youth and women, the sustainability of health initiatives, and the enhancement of security measures. He further added that he will strive to improve the internal revenue base to successfully accomplish the objectives set for this year.

The Chairman has pledged his steadfast dedication to adhering to due process, transparency, and accountability in the implementation of the 2026 Annual Budget, contingent upon its confirmation and approval by the Honourable House as the official working document for the year.

He stated that, despite the council’s lack of available funds in the Budget Estimate, he remains optimistic that, with the statutory allocation to the council and the internally generated revenue, any funds acquired will be managed prudently for the benefit of the entire populace of Ughelli North LGA.

Barr. Jaro Egbo expressed his gratitude to the Honourable members of the Ughelli North Legislative Arm for their unwavering support and co-operationfor the past one year in office. This collaboration has facilitated the ongoing provision of essential socio-economic amenities for the residents of Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Furthermore, the Chairman extended his commendation to the Executive Committee members of the Council, Management staff, NULGE, Leaders of the APC Ughelli North, and all attendees of the annual Budget estimate presentation ceremony, praying that God Almighty grant their hearts desires.
