The Executive Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. (Chief) Goddey Obi Nzete recently hosted a delegation from the Delta State Sports Commission, led by Henrietta Elabor, the member representing Delta North at the State Sports Commission. The visit was a follow-up to a directive from His Excellency, the Governor, aimed at fostering grassroots sports development in line with the administration’s MORE AGENDA.




The delegation, comprising Mr. Azuka Ogosi, Mr. Ikechukwu Ojibi, Mr. Ifeanyi Uwagwu, Mrs. Ngozi Susan Jacob, Mrs. Christiana Chuks, Ms. Maureen Godwin, and Mr. Chiedu Agunyai, highlighted the objectives of their mission. These included discovering and nurturing young talents, promoting youth engagement, and leveraging sports as a tool to reduce restiveness and improve well-being in local communities.
While acknowledging the critical role of sports in community development, the Chairman expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit. He assured them of the council’s commitment to supporting the initiative within its capabilities. He encouraged the team to formalize their proposals and share them with him and his colleagues for thorough review and collaboration.
The Chairman reiterated the council’s readiness to cooperate with the Sports Commission to ensure the success of this initiative, noting its potential to unearth raw talents and foster future champions in Ndokwa West LGA.
The meeting, which underscored the shared goals of the state and local government, reflects a significant step towards harnessing the transformative power of sports to drive societal progress. The Sports Commission’s efforts align with the Governor’s vision of creating opportunities for youth while advancing sustainable development at the grassroots.
