PCVSN TO HOLD 6TH CONVOCATION AND 8TH INVESTITURE CEREMONY IN ABUJA ON AUGUST 13, 2026
Abuja, Nigeria — The Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria, PCVSN, will hold its Sixth Convocation and Eighth Investiture Ceremony on Thursday, 13th August 2026 in Abuja.
Established by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, PCVSN was created to advance the training of qualified Veterinary Surgeons through structured postgraduate programmes and examinations. The College awards the Fellowship Diploma, which confers on successful candidates the status of Consultant in their chosen area of specialization.
The 2026 ceremony marks another milestone in the College’s mandate to promote excellence, professionalism, and scholarship in veterinary medicine. It will feature the induction of new Members and Fellows who have completed rigorous academic and clinical training, and who are now positioned to provide specialist leadership across animal health, public health, livestock production, and research.

“Building a Resilient and Globally Competitive Livestock Industry: The Strategic Role of Veterinary Specialists in Nigeria.”
The theme underscores the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s livestock sector amid global trade demands, climate pressures, disease threats, and food security challenges. Veterinary specialists are critical to delivering a livestock industry that is productive, safe, sustainable, and globally competitive.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chairman of the Convocation Planning Committee, Dr. David Ehizibolo, said:
“PCVSN remains committed to producing specialists who can drive innovation and policy in animal health. This Convocation and Investiture is not just a celebration of academic success. It is a call to action for veterinary professionals to lead the transformation of our livestock industry into one that is resilient, profitable, and globally respected.”
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Convocation Planning Committee and Secretary, PCVSN, Dr. Helen Egoyibo Oputa-Chime, noted:
“The College will continue to uphold the highest standards of postgraduate training. As we invest in new Fellows and Members, we are investing in the future of veterinary medicine in Nigeria and in the health of the nation’s food systems.”
