Palm Sunday: Senator Alli Felicitates Christians, Urges HUMILITY, SACRIFICE AND LOVE
The senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, has felicitated Christians in Oyo State and beyond on the occasion of Palm Sunday, urging them to embrace the virtues of humility, sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Alli, in a statement yesterday, described Palm Sunday as a significant day in the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week.
He said that the celebration serves as a reminder of Christ’s humility and peaceful mission, symbolised by His entry into Jerusalem on a donkey amid cheers of “Hosanna” by the people.
The lawmaker urged Christians to reflect deeply on the spiritual lessons of the season, stressing the need for selflessness, compassion and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence in society.
Alli also called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliations, to use the period to pray for unity, stability, and the nation’s progress, especially in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.
He stressed that the message of Palm Sunday underscores hope, victory, and divine love, encouraging citizens to remain steadfast and optimistic about the country’s future.
The senator wished all Christians a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Palm Sunday celebration, praying that the season would usher in renewed faith, joy and national cohesion.
