Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has recorded significant achievements in infrastructure development since his inauguration on May 29, 2023. His administration has focused on completing ongoing projects while embarking on new initiatives, delivering visible progress and improving the lives of Delta State residents.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, shared these insights into the governor’s efforts in an interview on Arise Television and monitored from Asaba.
The Commissioner highlighted three critical bridge projects in Effurun and Warri. These include the Enerhen Junction Bridge, DSC Roundabout Bridge and PTI Junction Bridge.
Notably, these projects are being executed by the globally acclaimed construction company, Julius Berger, a decision Aniagwu described as a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to excellence.
“These bridges are not just ordinary projects. They represent a deliberate effort by Governor Oborevwori to engage the best hands to ensure that the people of Delta State get the highest quality infrastructure. The speed and precision with which these projects are progressing underscore his dedication to the development of our state,” Aniagwu stated.
Beyond Effurun and Warri, other transformative infrastructure projects are making a tangible impact. The Beneku Bridge, connecting Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East, has drastically changed the dynamics of transportation in the area. Before its construction, residents relied on boats, locally known as “Pontoon,” to cross the river, often facing delays and inconveniences. Now, the bridge facilitates smooth vehicular movement and has significantly enhanced trade and commerce between the two regions.
“We can now drive across the Beneku Bridge, something that was unimaginable for years. This has opened up new opportunities for residents, enabling them to travel, trade, and interact with ease. It’s a life-changing project,” Aniagwu remarked.
Similarly, the 500-meter Orere Bridge in Ughelli South Local Government Area has become a vital link for communities in the area. The bridge, which is now operational, has improved accessibility and fostered economic growth. Aniagwu emphasized that these projects are not just infrastructural achievements but a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s promise to deliver inclusive development to all parts of the state.
Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style has further bolstered confidence in his administration. Aniagwu revealed that the governor operates under a “Do More, Listen More” agenda, focusing on constructive feedback rather than seeking accolades.
“During a recent meeting, the governor made it clear: ‘Don’t tell me about what I’ve done well; tell me where I need to improve. Show me the areas where I can make a greater impact for our people,’” Aniagwu recounted. “This level of humility and commitment to governance is rare. It shows that he genuinely wants to serve the people.”
Aniagwu commended the governor for prioritizing action over publicity, focusing on delivering projects that directly benefit the people. “Governor Oborevwori believes that results speak louder than words. Instead of spending resources on live TV coverages, he channels them into completing these critical projects with speed and efficiency,” he explained.
The ongoing infrastructure projects are a testament to the governor’s ability to balance speed with quality. By engaging a reputable contractor like Julius Berger, the administration has ensured that the bridges in Warri meet international standards, further solidifying the state’s reputation for excellence in public works.
Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructure agenda is part of a broader vision to create a prosperous and connected Delta State. By addressing long-standing challenges in transportation and connectivity, his administration is laying the foundation for sustained economic growth and social development.
As residents begin to reap the benefits of these projects, the governor’s focus on delivering on his promises with precision and speed has earned him widespread commendation. “These bridges and other ongoing projects are not just infrastructural assets; they are symbols of a government that listens, acts, and prioritizes the well-being of its people,” Aniagwu concluded.
With these transformative efforts, Governor Oborevwori is setting a new standard for governance in Delta State, fostering hope for a brighter future for all its citizens.
