Kafayat’s 8th minute Superb free-kick Stun Remo Stars Ladies

Edo Queens recorded 1-0 win over Remo Stars Ladies FC that will go down in their history books, while also earning a major advantage in group A with 29 points from 11 games to maintain an unbeaten run in the ongoing premiership as they await the remaining three games to wrap up the season with flying colours to the Super 6.

Everybody from the players to the officials down to the supporters were keen to make themselves known on a monumental evening at the Remo Stars Sport Complex, as the NWFL defending champions did it with varying fortunes at either end.
Edo Queens utility forward Kafayat Mafisere, netted in the first goal of the explosive match in 8th minute of play as the dangling player took a long range free-kick from half of the field after Remo Stars player was booked for rough tackle. Her fantastic stunning goal took the Mathew Wemimo- led ladies and their teeming fans by surprise.
Both teams had periods of possession in the first- quarter of the tension amplified game. The two goalkeepers did wonderfully well by given good accounts of themselves in the 97 minute game.

Edo Queens made several attempts at the homers goal zone, but Remo Stars goalkeeper Charlotte Adjei, was always there on time to rescue the situation. There was no doll moment in the game as both side try to outplay each other, but the experienced Edo Queens side dominated having 70% per- cent ball possession while the host side had 50% per- cent. The Ikenne ladies were however forced by Edo Queens to play to their pattern.

The second quarter of the game was full of actions, massive defense and massive attack coming from both sides. The Ancient City ladies took full possession of the game dictating the pace. Chioma Moses Esther, had a clear opportunity of making it two for the Benin City Queens, but hit the wood works.
The home team mounted pressure on Edo Queens towards the end but thank God for goalkeeper Morufa Ademola, of Edo Queens, and the solid defense line up of Edo Queens with Titus Happiness, Uroko Valentina and Deborah Odiagbe, doing a wonderful work at the back.

Remo Stars Ladies had three successive corner kicks within the space of five minutes trying everything to get an equalizer, but Edo Queens resisted all attempts not wanting to concede any goal. The players of Edo Queens were just too sensational on the pitch of play each playing for each another. The cohention, understanding, coordination and unity of the players was fantastic and excellent.

With this 1-0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies, Edo Queens have continuously maintain their unbeaten run record. They stand top in group A, with 29 points from 11 matches.
They have also spoil Remo Stars Ladies’ home records, by being the first team to beat Remo Stars Ladies right in front of their home fans. This is the first time they are losing to a visiting team at home in this season.
With just three games left to end the regular season, Edo Queens will be home to Dannaz Ladies FC of Lagos next week in match day 12. And thereafter, the winning train will move to Lafia Nasarawa State to play Nasarawa Amazons in match day 13. While match day 14, will be against Confluence Queens of Lokoja at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium climaxing the end of the regular season, before heading for the Super 6 showpiece.
